Email Newsletter

Conversio Virium meetings are once a week, but there are often other events happening all the time. CV’s secretary distributes an email newsletter that will keep you up to date on many of the BDSM-related goings-on in the New York City area.

Subscribing to the CV Email Newsletter

The way to get the newsletter is to subscribe on our web site with a username (a nickname or pseudonym) and an email address.

The subscription list is kept strictly confidential, and we always follow the below guidelines to make sure you have nothing to worry about when getting email from us:

• All emails are addressed solely TO you by a computer, not a human, and are sent individually. This is done so that no addressee will see the names or addresses of other addressees, even including the email author.
• The SUBJECT of the email never contains dangerous, explicit, or questionable words and will always begin with the text [Conversio Virium]. This is done to avoid potential embarrassment for those checking their email in public places.
• The BODY of the email always has a signficantly large block of benign text such as a quote or other prose prior to the detailed information of events. This is also done to avoid embarrassment for those checking their email in public, since many email services now provide “previews” of the first part of an email’s content next to the subject line.

To ensure you receive the CV newsletter and other notifications from the CV web site, please be sure to add conversio@columbia.edu to your contacts list and/or add an email rule to allow messages whose subject line begins with [Conversio Virium] to your spam filtering software.

Unsubscribing from the CV Email Newsletter

If you would prefer not to receive mailings from us, you can still always view our listings of events on our web site, on your calendar, or in your newsreader.

If you have already subscribed to the email newsletter but now wish to unsubscribe, all you need to do is update your account’s preferences. No further emails will be mailed to you. To do this:

1. Log in to your account, using the username and password you created when you signed up.
2. Go to your profile page.
3. Scroll down to the header that reads Email Preferences and deselect the option that reads “Accept to receive emails sent to multiple recipients (but still accept emails sent only to me)”.
4. Click the Update Profile button. This will unsubscribe you from our newsletter mailing list.

Optionally, if you wish to never receive emails that CV sends, then deselect all other options under Email Preferences as well.

Please also note that the CV Email Newsletter is not the same thing as the CV Email Discussion List. The two lists are distinct and independent of one another, so subscribing or unsubscribing from one does not affect your subscription to the other.
